Buyers Remorse and Obama

I doubt we'll see very much of this in the next 2 years seeing as how the lickspittle liberal/commie media has gone out of it's way to destroy their credibility by covering Obamas and the democrats asses since before he was first elected.
But smaller papers who do their business in predominantly red states maybe starting to see the error of their ways when they tried to impress the big boys by falling in line.

Gazette opinion: Obama earned the low ratings
Sometimes, you have to admit you're wrong.
And, we were wrong.
We said that things couldn't get much worse after the sub par presidency of George W. Bush.
But, President Barack Obama's administration has us yearning for the good ol' days when we were at least winning battles in Iraq.~snip~
The article even has a nice little list of what they call some of Obama's mistakes. While not totally comprehensive it's a good list to have handy.
- Maybe the worst and most widespread invasion of privacy occurred when the Obama administration continued a controversial National Security Agency program of spying on millions of citizens culling their phone records to intercepting online information. The administration has done nearly nothing to safeguard civil liberties or put in safeguards to protect our Constitutionally guaranteed freedoms.
- The Obama administration has continued to ratchet down on emissions from coal-fired power plants while giving consumers little new innovation to replace the power supply. Meanwhile, Obama continues to thwart other energy projects that might be helpful to the economy, like the Keystone XL pipeline. The war on carbon might not be so bad if indeed it was being counterbalanced by true innovation.
- Iraq was an inherited quagmire from the Bush administration. But six years later, Obama has to own the current situation which, as this is being written, looks perilously close to civil war and a complete breakdown of government in Iraq. If that were to happen, the sacrifice of thousands of Americans' lives would be cheapened, if not in vain. His handling the situation seems uncertain and we can't help but wonder if the same type of inaction will lead to a civil war similar to Syria's?
- The Bowe Bergdahl situation is an example of right instinct, completely wrong handling of a prisoner exchange. The Obama administration should be lauded for not wanting to leave any American solider behind. But, surprising Congress, trading possible terrorists and not doing enough to vet the background of Bergdahl had the net effect of looking incompetent. What should have been an easy public relations victory for bringing a lost soldier home turned into a public relations nightmare, and continued to erode public confidence, leading some to wonder if Obama's team can't even get something as important as bringing home a captive soldier correct, what can it be successful at?
- The VA scandal showed that wait times for veterans access to health care was so bad that some veterans actually died before they could get the medical care they were entitled to. While the VA system was not invented by the Obama administration, after six years of management, it's clear that problems were not be corrected quickly enough and that our nation was not living up to the promise it made to take care of soldiers. The most recent debacle led to the sacking of retired Gen. Eric Shinseki, but it was another black eye for the administration which appeared to look incompetent when it comes to taking care of wounded, or in-need veterans.
- Speaking of health care, Obama had also pledged that his administration would embrace new stem cell technology, and part of the hope and change we heard so much about would happen as lives improved through medical innovation. But as his presidency has continued, we see little evidence that Obama is pushing for new cures, science or solutions when it comes to medical problems.
- For years now, reports by watchdog organizations and journalists that have shown despite Obama's promises of being more transparent, his administration has actually cracked down on journalists, spied on citizens and retaliated against those who leak information to the press. In fact, the Obama administration has become so opaque and difficult that it has earned the reputation of being far worse than Nixon, the disgraced president whose terrible clampdown of information led to federal law being changed for more transparency.
- Finally, Obamacare has become synonymous with boondoggle. To be fair, there has not been enough time to judge whether the comprehensive health care reform program works, but one thing is certain: The public presentation and roll-out of the program was so riddled with technical glitches and problems, it greatly undermined the public's confidence in the system.
The failures of the democrats and Obama should be all anyone would need to turn them out of office because what they have done and are doing is not working.

Today at the SCOTUS

Couple of rulings that push back at government intruding into our lives.
This first one is of course a misleading headline. In spite of all the leftwing hyperventilating the SCOTUS didn't rule against birth control, just who is required to pay for it.

COURT: RELIGIOUS RIGHTS TRUMP BIRTH CONTROL RULE

Commie/liberals are all about "stay out of our bedrooms!!!" until money is involved. Then it's all about charging everybody else to pay for their "privacy".

Here's another instance of government trying to make someone else pay for commie/liberal speech and losing.

Illinois mom elated after defeating powerful union in Supreme Court

Democrats are the ones who benefit from coerced union dues and they are greedy enough to find ways to intrude into people's homes to fatten their wallets.

While neither of these rulings went far enough they are the beginnings of some pushback against an out of control government inserting itself ever father into our lives.

EPA Treats Hallways Like Taxpayers

There seems to be very little doubt about how the IRS feels about us and it seems the EPA has gotten their cue from them.
But you gotta wonder what the hallways look like at the regional office in Denver, Colorado  that would prompt them to send an email out about defecating in the hallways among other things.

EPA Employees Told to Stop Pooping in the Hallway
Environmental Protection Agency workers have done some odd things recently.
Contractors built secret man caves in an EPA warehouse, an employee pretended to work for the CIA to get unlimited vacations and one worker even spent most of his time on the clock looking at pornography.
It appears, however, that a regional office has reached a new low: Management for Region 8 in Denver, Colo., wrote an email earlier this year to all staff in the area pleading with them to stop inappropriate bathroom behavior, including defecating in the hallway.
In the email, obtained by Government Executive, Deputy Regional Administrator Howard Cantor mentioned “several incidents” in the building, including clogging the toilets with paper towels and “an individual placing feces in the hallway” outside the restroom.
Confounded by what to make of this occurrence, EPA management “consulted” with workplace violence “national expert” John Nicoletti, who said that hallway feces is in fact a health and safety risk. He added the behavior was “very dangerous” and the individuals responsible would “probably escalate” their actions.~snip~
These are some of the folks who determine what is and what isn't appropriate for the rest of us to put in the air and water.
It's a good bet they were probably members of the occupy protest.

Freedom Interruptus

As long as we can't purge these decrepit entrenched RINO's from Washington then nothing will ever change.

Miss. Senate primary: Pro Cochran ads accuse McDaniel, tea party of racism [pics, audio]
Entrenched incombency come with all kinds of dirty tricks no matter which party is involved.
Time to purge the incumbents.

Great Theatre, Still no Accountability

There are people out there that are cheering on the supposed "spanking" that some of the republicans are giving the IRS. You can find some of it here via Twitchy.

‘Just nailed Koskinen to the wall’: Trey Gowdy brings the heat to IRS hearing [video]

When you get right down to it though all you basically have is theatre put on by the republicans. Let's face it, all their posturing and so-called slam dunk questioning in any hearing has resulted in absolutely no accountability by Obama, his administration or the democrats.
Everyones getting whipped up over what is essentially a toothless congress whose republican members hold the same view as the RNC does of grass roots Tea party organizations.

Maybe there's some merit to collecting sound bites for the next 2 election cycles so that republicans can use them against democrats but the lickspittle media will do their best to minimise then and relegate them to conspiracy theories.

You really want to cheer this empty display on then go to it.
As for me...wake me when they actually indict someone for their criminal and illegal actions.
Until then it's just smoke.

Picture of the Month

From the NYPost.
For anyone who has been following the disgrace that is the IRS this picture puts into one image the arrogance and disdain the Obama administration has for the American people.
I could go into the whole "missing emails" and destroyed hard drive thing but at this point "what difference does it make"?
Voting out democrats does very little to eliminate the liberal/commie threat to the country basically because the civil service has been hiring lickspittle little liberals for decades. I got a position in the 70's in civil service because I was going to school and the agency I worked for was infested with Jimmy Carter worshippers who were, and still are, proud liberals.
They were more than happy to tell you so. They're smug and arrogant because they know that no matter what the public sector unions have their backs.
If we want real change the purge will have to go deep into government agencies to replace the partisan hack employees with people who can do their jobs in a fair and neutral manner.

Breaking the public sector unions is crucial to restoring a fair and accountable government.

After Multiple Policy Failures By Obama Hillary Grilled on 'Gay Marriage'

As Obama's foreign and domestic policies weaken the U.S. at home and abroad the vetting of Hillary for 2016 begins.
Of course the most important questions for the liberal/commie media is how she feels about "gay marriage".
10 Times NPR’s Terry Gross Tries To Get Hillary Clinton To Explain When She First Supported Marriage Equality
WASHINGTON — Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton got into a testy exchange with NPR’s Terry Gross on Thursday, as Gross tried to get Clinton to explain her views on marriage equality over time.
When Gross attempted to get the former secretary of state to explain whether she had changed her mind over time on the issue of marriage equality or whether she supported marriage equality previously but felt that she couldn’t say so due to the popular and political opposition.~snip~
ISIS is getting ready to march on Baghdad while the current administration dithers over their response, personally I'm not holding my breath that Obama will take decisive action to prevent Iraq from being over run.
We also have a humanitarian crisis at the border with 10's of thousands of children swamping U.S. immigration agents with no end in sight. The continuing scandal of the VA, Bowe Bergdahl and the Taliban swap, the IRS and plenty more if you want to list them all.
While all this is going on the questions the media seems to be most focused on is Hillary's views on "marriage equality".
Is this the kind of stuff that we as Americans are going to base our decision on who to vote for?
The media has gone from being a irritant to becoming a danger to our republic.

Deep Thoughts?

Not only is the republican party infested with entrenched RINOs (although one less now) it's also embarrassed by ditzy valley girl types posing as republicans. With the encouragement of the progressive/liberal media of course.
While it's true that apples don't fall far from the tree it's also a given that some will land on their heads.

Why We Still Can't have Nice Things

For me one of the most disappointing things in politics is the never ending love affair of republican voters for uber-RINOs.

Criminy! What the hell is going on in South Carolina? [pics]
With the GOP primary challengers failing to make a real splash and Sen. Graham maintaining a huge cash advantage, many are predicting he’ll have little trouble getting more than 50 percent of today’s vote to avoid a runoff.
Everyone complains about the entrenched RINOs in the party and become outraged over the embarrassing pandering republican clowns like John McCain and Lindsey Grahamnesty engage in with the liberal/commie media.
Then reelect them again.

Update:

The Human Infestation

Some how the discussion about climate change always turns to this.

Peter Singer: Women Should Sacrifice Having Kids to Protect Environment
Bioethicist Peter Singer compared women and children to cows overgrazing a field and said — at the global Women Deliver Conference last week, hailed as the most important meeting to focus on women and girls’ human rights in a decade — that women’s reproductive rights may one day have to be sacrificed for the environment.
The controversial Princeton University professor, known for championing infanticide and bestiality, was a featured panelist on Thursday at the three-day Women Deliver conference attended by Melinda Gates and more than 4,000 abortion and contraception activists in Kuala Lumpur.
Singer said that since the world’s affluent are not likely to restrain their high rate of consumption compared to the world’s poor any time soon, and since it’s possible that family planning efforts may “turn out to be not enough…we ought to consider what other things there are that we can do …in order to try stave off some of the worst consequences of the environmental catastrophes…”
“It’s possible of course, that we give women reproductive choices, that we meet the unmet need for contraception but that we find that the number of children that women choose to have is still such that population continues to rise in a way that causes environmental problems,” he said. Women have more children because of their “ideological or religious views.”
Singer added that “greenhouse gases… are getting very close to a tipping point,” and climate change could become a “catastrophe and cause hundreds of millions or billions of people to become climate refugees.”
In that case, he said, “we need to consider whether we can talk about trying to reduce population growth and whether that’s compatible with the very reasonable concerns people have about women’s right to control their life decisions and their reproduction.”
Singer, who has also argued the case for bestowing international human rights on primates, said it is “appropriate to consider whether women’s reproductive rights are “fundamental” and unalterable or whether, in bioethicist speak, they are “prima facie — good and important to respect but there can be imaginable circumstances in which you may be justified in overriding them.”~snip~
I've said before but it does bare repeating, at one time groups like PETA were considered fringe "out there" movements that people kind of chuckled about. Sort of like the burning bras radicalism of the feminists in the late 60's and 70's.
Now they're becoming more and more mainstream as 50 years of constant liberal indoctrination takes it's toll on society.
What Singer is proposing may seem to be considered fringe and "out there" also but the truth is the climate change fanatics and the eco-fascists have been working towards their ultimate goal for a while.

The Voluntary Human Extinction Movement
Phasing out the human race by voluntarily ceasing to breed will allow Earth’s biosphere to return to good health. Crowded conditions and resource shortages will improve as we become less dense.
These bozos have been around for a while and they're dead serious propagating the idea that human beings are little more than vermin on mother earth and need to be exterminated.
This particular group advocates that we do it "voluntarily".
Singers solution doesn't seem nearly as benign.
Who knows what will be mainstreamed 50 or 60 years in the future?
It's possible that humanity will end itself for the benefit of mother earth 100 to 150 years in the future, not with a bang but with a whimper.

Koch Derangement Syndrome

File this under no good deed goes unpunished.

Leftists RAGE After United Negro College Fund Accepts $25 Million From Koch Brothers
Now that the United Negro College Fund (UNCF) has accepted a $25 million donation from Charles and David Koch, at least one Ivy League professor is worried sick and a bunch of leftists have taken to Twitter to express their rage.
The donation, by Koch Industries Inc. and the Charles Koch Foundation, was announced on Friday. It will be split between $18.5 million for a new Koch Scholars Program supporting nearly 3,000 individual scholarships and $6.5 million for general support to the UNCF and historically black colleges.
Marybeth Gasman, a higher education professor at the University of Pennsylvania claimed that the UNCF – a charitable organization dedicated to helping black people get college degrees – is “wrong” to accept this particular $25 million to help black people get college degrees, according to Inside Higher Ed.
Gasman bellowed that Koch organizations have been “deeply affiliated with the Tea Party.” She alleges that Tea Party leaders want to weaken the political interests of black Americans.
“There is too much at stake to take money from them,” Gasman told Inside Higher Ed. “I feel like the UNCF is getting into the position of being a puppet.”
She is also agonized that the $25 million donation will put the Koch brothers in a positive light.~snip~
It seems the prevailing wisdom of progressive/leftists is that the Koch brothers are basically evil incarnate. Unfortunately a charitable donation flies in the face of their conventional wisdom and that makes them hate them.

What gets to me about this is the reasons they give for the Koch brothers being such evil and diabolical entities. The way leftists go on you would think that these guys steal candy from babies and drown puppies but I can't verify that. It seems that they are evil and diabolical because they support candidates that they identify with and believe in free markets. Provide thousands of jobs and make their stockholders happy.
They also engage in charitable giving.
Not exactly luciferian stuff but because the left believes they are evil and diabolical their money is no good.
I wonder how the progressive/leftists would feel if they gave millions to Greenpeace or Planned Parenthood or to save trees or any other useless progressive/leftist cause.
Would their money still be no good?

Let the progressive/leftists whine while deserving individuals are given a hand up off the liberal/progressive plantation. But then again that is exactly what progressive/leftists are really afraid of.

The Red Meat of Impeachment

Videos of Judge Jeanne, and others, have been showing up in my feed on facebook a lot lately. Although I got to say that articles and videos calling for Obama's impeachment haven't been a rare thing since he first got elected.
It seems to be a constant refrain now with the Bowe Bergdahl/ Taliban swap with even uber-RINO and serial progressive panderer Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) threatening impeachment if Obama does it "one more time".
Obama has already said he'll do what he wants and doesn't need congress.
The truth is he will continue to do as he pleases until enough voters become fed up and demand that he be impeached. It's not like there isn't plenty of reasons to do so. Maybe we'll have to wait for a republican majority in the senate but even then only if we elect enough senators who are more bound by the constitution as opposed to garnering fawning approval from the liberal/commie media.

But so far it seems that enough voters haven't been outraged enough to demand something be done. Maybe it'll take something like the Obama white house deporting Justine Beiber or putting Oprah in exile to outrage enough people to finally make this administration accountable for their actions.
Because abandoning Americans in Benghazi, targeting conservatives with the IRS, releasing 5 dangerous Taliban commanders doesn't seem to enough.
That right there is pretty disappointing.

Gosnell Son Shot While Robbing a Home

Some how I can't shake the feeling that abortion rights activists will blame pro-life people for this.
I mean to them it's obvious he was driven to do this because of the prosecution of his dad. I mean how else was he going to support himself?

Son of Abortion Doc Gosnell Shot While Robbing College Student's Home: Police
The son of Kermit Gosnell, the infamous Philadelphia abortion doctor serving a life sentence for killing newborn children and at least one adult, is now in the hospital fighting for his life after an alleged home invasion.
Police say Gosnell's son, 22-year-old Barron Alexander was shot several times while he was burglarizing a row home shared by a group of undergrads in West Philadelphia on Wednesday morning.
The incident occurred on the 3700 block of Brandywine Avenue in the Mantua neighborhood around 7 a.m., according to Philadelphia Police.
Investigators say Alexander, who legally changed his name after his father's conviction, broke into the home while the three male residents were home. According to police, he broke into the home three times, stealing cash and electronics -- including an X-Box and a laptop.
Police Capt. John Przepiorka said Alexander went through a rear bathroom window during the third break-in, causing two of the residents to wake up.~snip~
The guy changed his name because he said he couldn't get a job or internship because of his fathers crime.
Obviously he never applied at Planned Parenthood.

From 'Naked and Afraid' to 'Naked and Giving Birth'

I suppose that this is the next logical progression in reality TV.

A reality show too far? New U.S. series films women giving BIRTH in the wild with no help from doctors
A new reality show announced by Lifetime on Wednesday will follow young parents who forego not only hospitals during the birthing process, but also any shelter at all.
Born in the Wild will portray the men and women who decide that giving birth surrounded by only the beauty and serenity of nature and away from any doctors or modern interventions is the way to go.
Inspired by the huge popularity of a YouTube video that shows a woman giving birth in a tropical creek, some critics say such a show could kick off a dangerous trend that will endanger mothers and their babies alike.~snip~
The video that inspired this can be found here if you want to watch it.  A lot of the comments state that that's how it's been done for millions of years and all and that's true. But if you really want to do the back to nature thing then the right way to do it is to make sure there are the proper number of predators hanging around ready to snatch an easy meal while everyone's vulnerable. Cause that's the way it was for millions of years also.
I guess I can understand the backlash against the medical community who during the 50's and 60's would render women unconscious to give birth and even now some doctors who try to schedule births through induction or cesarean for convenience. But sometimes it seems that it's gone a little to far.

Personally I don't see this as "must see TV".

Let the Festivities Fizzle

This whole Bowe Bergdahl deal seems to have given a lot of people pause. What mystifies me about this is that again no one bothered to vet these people before throwing their support behind them. Which is a shame because folks maybe become a lot more cautious before they throw in for someone who really deserves it.

By Laura Zuckerman
HAILEY Idaho (Reuters) - U.S. Army Sergeant Bowe Bergdahl's hometown, feeling a backlash over allegations that he was a deserter, has canceled a rally planned for later this month celebrating his release from five years of Taliban captivity, city officials said on Wednesday.
In calling off the June 28 event, the officials cited concerns that they lacked the resources to safely manage the thousands of supporters and protesters who were expected to converge on the small mountain community of 8,000 residents.~snip~
Since the current news cycle seems to be Bowe Bergdahl all the time let us not lose sight of the other scandals affecting our veterans.

Dr. Manny: Don’t let Bergdahl’s rescue distract from the VA scandal
Just two weeks ago, we were in the midst of one of the biggest governmental scandals in American history. Our beloved veterans were dying for lack of access to VA hospital services. Mysterious “secret” lists revealing falsified wait times for patients seeking care at VA hospitals were being identified. Physician whistleblowers were coming out of the woodwork. And on Friday, Veterans Affairs Secretary Eric Shinseki finally resigned.
But this week, President Obama has been quick to shift the national attention to another news story: The release of the last U.S. prisoner of war in Afghanistan, Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl.
People, don’t let Bergdahl’s rescue make you forget about the VA scandal.
Now, I don’t want to get into the specifics surrounding the controversial release of this solider. There are many questions left to be answered, regarding the president’s decision to release what has been referred to as the “Taliban dream team” in exchange for Bergdahl. Or the president’s failure to notify Congress before the exchange took place.
But I think it’s funny that the president is not using the same lines he’s used during other controversies – such as ordering a “study” of the problem, as he did during the VA scandal – to address his current predicament surrounding Bergdahl’s release. Instead, Obama has been quick to characterize the release of Taliban prisoners as something that needed to be done.~snip~
You would think it would be a no-brainer for people to remember that Obama and the dems have a history of slapping those in uniform in the face. Truth is that the liberal/commie media in this country has the attention span of a 2 year old and would be more than happy to stop talking about all that VA stuff that might embarrass their Obamessiah.
What the government is doing to our warriors is to neglect them and treat them with disdain. They deserve better and we need to remember that.

Our Fundamental Transformation

Here's a couple of items of note.

Summertime Blues: Teen Unemployment in Major U.S. Cities Tops 50 Percent
(CNSNews.com) – A new analysis by the Employment Policy Institute (EPI) shows that unemployment among teens without a high school diploma is more than 50 percent in two of the largest U.S. cities.
Using U.S. Census Bureau data from May 2013 to April 2014, the analysis reveals that in Riverside-San Bernardino area of Southern California, the unemployment rate for teens ages 16 to 19 years old who don’t have a high school diploma is 54.2 percent.
In the Portland-Vancouver-Beaverton, Ore., metropolitan area, the unemployment rate from that population is 53.8 percent.
“These numbers are staggering,” Michael Saltsman, director of research at EPI told CNSNews.com. “Teens across the country this summer are missing out on valuable work experience as they continue to suffer through an extended period of high unemployment and difficult job prospects.”~snip~
It's good to know that the absence of opportunities exist across all age groups.

1 in 5 Children Live in Poverty in U.S.
(CNSNews.com) - One in five children under age 18, or 21.3%, are living in poverty in the United States, according to the latest data from the U.S. Census Bureau.
In 2012, there were 15,437,000 children under 18 years old, or 21.3%, who were classified in the “below poverty” threshold, according to the Census.
“The incidence of poverty rates varies widely across the population according to age, education, labor force attachment, family living arrangements, and area of residence, among other factors. Under the official poverty definition, an average family of four was considered poor in 2012 if its pre-tax cash income for the year was below $23,492,” according to a Congressional Research Service (CRS) report ~snip~
We can only hope that stats like this mean something to voters in November.

Bergdahl’s conduct investigated

It seems that everything Bowe Bergdahl has pretty much knocked the VA scandal, among others, off the current news cycle. Quite possibly never to be taken up by the MSM again.
Not that Bowe Bergdahl’s possible desertion and possible release of a classified file put together by the U.S. intelligence community showing collaboration isn't important.

Sources: Intelligence community investigated Bergdahl’s conduct
A senior official confirms to Fox News that the conduct of Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl -- both in his final stretch of active duty in Afghanistan and then, too, during his time when he lived among the Taliban -- has been thoroughly investigated by the U.S. intelligence community and is the subject of "a major classified file."
In conveying as much, the Defense Department source confirmed to Fox News that many within the intelligence community harbor serious outstanding concerns not only that Bergdahl may have been a deserter but that he may have been an active collaborator with the enemy.
The Pentagon official added pointedly that no relevant congressional committee has sought access to the classified file, but that if such a request were made, key committee chairs would, under previous precedent, likely be granted access to it. Separately, the Pentagon confirmed Monday that it is looking into claims Americans died during the search for Bergdahl.
The administration announced over the weekend that Bergdahl's release had been secured, in exchange for five Taliban prisoners at Guantanamo Bay. President Obama was joined by the soldier's parents in making a public statement on the release Saturday evening from the Rose Garden.
Sources told Fox News that many officials in the Executive Branch are "quite baffled" by the White House's decision to allow the president to stand alongside Bergdahl's father this past weekend, given the father's history of controversial statements, emails and online posts.~snip~
You can't tell me that Obama and his administration had no idea how problematic this swap for Bergdahl could be given the stuff just now starting to come out not only from his fellow soldiers but along official channels also.
It's the equivalent of shifting attention from one scandal by essentially creating another one.

Then again why not?
This administration has yet to be held accountable for anything from Fast and Furious to the IRS to Benghazi to the VA.
There's way more to this swap than we'll ever know and Obama will get away with weakening this country again.

Obama continues with his poor foreign policy judgments

Has anyone else noticed the piss poor choices Obama has made propping up questionable, to say the least, actors when it comes to his foreign policy?
Like his support of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt when it was plain the Egyptian people didn't want them in power or the way he has marginalized Israel.
How about the way he placates the mullahs in Iran which makes the other middle eastern countries nervous?
How about his arming of Al Qaeda terrorists in Libya?

Here he is again making deals with the Taliban to free what is a pretty sketchy soldier to bring him home to what appears to a Taliban sympathizer in his father.

Fellow soldiers call Bowe Bergdahl a deserter, not a hero
(CNN) -- The sense of pride expressed by officials of the Obama administration at the release of Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl is not shared by many of those who served with him -- veterans and soldiers who call him a deserter whose "selfish act" ended up costing the lives of better men.
"I was pissed off then and I am even more so now with everything going on," said former Sgt. Matt Vierkant, a member of Bergdahl's platoon when he went missing on June 30, 2009. "Bowe Bergdahl deserted during a time of war and his fellow Americans lost their lives searching for him."
Vierkant said Bergdahl needs to not only acknowledge his actions publicly but face a military trial for desertion under the Uniform Code of Military Justice.
A reporter asked Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel Sunday whether Bergdahl had left his post without permission or deserted -- and, if so, whether he would be punished. Hagel didn't answer directly. "Our first priority is assuring his well-being and his health and getting him reunited with his family," he said. "Other circumstances that may develop and questions, those will be dealt with later."~snip~
There's a lot of stuff out there about the inconsistencies of  Bowe Bergdahl capture. There needs to be full investigation of the circumstances surrounding not only his capture but the events around the deal Obama made for his release.
Bob Bergdahl also needs to lighten up on the rhetoric because from what I see any sympathy out there for the return of his son is being pretty quickly eroded
