Like a Dog With a Bone

I remember seeing this in the wake of the velvet mafias attempt to lie, manipulate and extort A&E over the comments made by Phil Robertson in the GQ hit piece about Duck Dynasty.

After trying to distort what the guy actually said, even though the article was there for all the world to see, they pretty much got spanked in the arena of public opinion after A&E backed down.
For whatever reason.

Of course the militant gay agitators couldn't let it go and pick another battle, they immediately started to scour the web looking for some kind of smoking gun to use against Phil Robertson.
This is the best they could find.

DUCK HUNT: CNN FABRICATES NEW PHIL ROBERTSON CONTROVERSY
Even though CNN's phony controversy hasn't even been able to pick up traction at MSNBC, that hasn't stopped the left-wing cable news network from attempting to manufacture more trouble for Phil Robertson and "Duck Dynasty." But why would we expect anything less from the same network that fabricated evidence to frame a working-class Hispanic man?
The CNN report below, covering Robertson's humorous relaying of marriage advice, is taken ultra-seriously by the CNN correspondent, and asks, "What is the tipping point to getting kicked off the air?"
Does CNN not hear the crowd laughing? It is obvious that Robertson is going for laughs. That doesn't mean he isn't trying to make a point (his wife was 16 when they married) but there is no question he is performing and exaggerating to entertain a crowd that is entertained.~snip~
A little tongue in cheek marital advice that nobody is taking seriously.
Well except for the the same group that tells everybody what morality and Christianity really is, you know those ultra tolerant  gays rights activists.
How have we gotten to the point that the least moral and Christian among us are defining what it is to be either?
What's really funny is that despite they're proclamations of evil wrong doing, again, the video is available and people can make their own determination about it.
Hair is being pulled and teeth are being gnashed and no one cares.

Jesse Jackson's Getting Old

Either that or the race baiting business must be busy this season. It took him long enough to jump on this bandwagon.

Jesse Jackson: Phil Robertson ‘More Offensive’ Than Rosa Parks Bus Driver
Jesse Jackson has decided to weigh in on the inflammatory comments that Phil Robertson made to GQ about gays and African Americans.
In an interview with Drew Magary, the “Duck Dynasty” star said the Nazis needed Jesus, that he never saw the mistreatment of African Americans while growing up in Louisiana before the civil rights era and that homosexuality was a sin.
A&E has already suspended Robertson, but Reverend Jackson, his Rainbow PUSH Coalition and GLAAD are demanding to meet with network execs, along with Cracker Barrel’s CEO, to discuss the future of all “Duck Dynasty” memorabilia or content.
“These statements uttered by Robertson are more offensive than the bus driver in Montgomery, Alabama, more than 59 years ago,” Jackson said in a statement obtained by ABC News.
“At least the bus driver, who ordered Rosa Parks to surrender her seat to a white person, was following state law. Robertson’s statements were uttered freely and openly without cover of the law, within a context of what he seemed to believe was ‘white privilege.’”
The release, dated Dec. 23, requests a meeting within 72 hours with A&E and Cracker Barrel execs and urges the network to uphold Robertson’s suspension.
Jackson and GLAAD said they believe it’s not right for a personality with such a large platform to benefit from such comments.~snip~
There isn't a thing Phil Robertson said that I can disagree with. I mean if Germany had more Jesus there might never had been Nazi's. I also grew up during pre-civil rights and I can honestly say I never saw anyone of color mistreated, also when I was raised we went to church and learned that homosexuality is a sin. Sin don't change with the culture.
Like I've said previously, this is more than just some silly reality show, if the American people allow this then it will be open season for any little fringe group in this country to dictate what we can think and what we can say.
If you want to support Phil then spread the word.

Does One Reality Show Matter?

As the Duck Dynasty, A&E, Glaad drama continues to unfold I've been seeing a lot of people asking, what with all the other things going on, why does this matter?

I've come to the conclusion that the outrage over the Phil Robertson suspension goes way deeper than a TV reality show. What it's really about is pent up anger of Americans who are tired of being ignored.
For several years the government has excelled at ignoring the objections of the people.

For instance take Obamacare, please, since the law was enacted polls have consistently shown a majority of Americans wanted it repealed. Since the dysfunctional website has gone live the numbers against Obamacare has really spiked upward and still the democrats and Obama have continued to support it even as it begins to collapse under it's own weight. Obama and the dems have begun frantically to change the law as it nears it's dead line sending the health insurance industry into chaos. The damage to the health care system will be catastrophic and it all could have been avoided if the ACA was repealed and replaced with common sense legislation.
But it wasn't and now we'll all suffer the consequences because we were ignored

Government continues to spend out of control and a vast majority of Americans believe big government is our greatest threat. Yet Obama and the dems continue to rack up huge deficits in spite of Americans telling them to reign it in.

In every state that "gay marriage" was placed on a ballot it failed despite the velvet mafia pulling poll numbers out of their ass claiming that a majority of Americans approved of "gay marriage". Again the will of the people was ignored as the homosexual activists bypassed the public and went straight to the state legislatures or the courts. Enabling government to again defy the will of the public.

We've gotten to the point that once government gets involved in a situation then we know that there is a certain futility to any efforts be it protests or petitions to sway the outcome.
Which is why the Chick-fil-a protest and hopefully the Duck Dynasty one will prevail. Because these protests depend on free market pressures as opposed to going up against an intransigent government entity.

Government has become a criminal cabal that answers to no one but private businesses have to answer to their customers and that is something that we can control.
If we can take back a little bit in the culture war then special interest lobbyists may lose some of their grip on our politicians and they just may start listening.

Ducking A&E

In another shot across the bow of the culture wars GQ magazine sent a reporter to....well report on the Duck Dynasty clan.
And it seems he got just what he was looking for. If you read the preamble to the article the first thing that jumps out at you is that the interviewer isn't exactly a neutral observer.
How in the world did a family of squirrel-eating, Bible-thumping, catchphrase-spouting duck hunters become the biggest TV stars in America? And what will they do now that they have 14 million fervent disciples? Our Drew Magary toured the Louisiana backwater with Phil Robertson and the Duck Dynasty gang to find out
As you read the rest of the article you see that the guy can barely contain his disdain for what he perceives as backwater rednecks (of course not having it occur to him that they are very happy and successful backwater rednecks).

Eventually he asks the question that produces the mother lode: What, in your mind, is sinful?

What I find interesting about this is why would a bunch of effete leftists give a tinkers damn about a show about a family that made it's fortune by doing what they love and live for faith and family?
Of course you can't dismiss the disdain that they feel about the family's insistence about not hiding their faith so they realized that a few choice quotes can take them down a notch or 2.
The author of this hit piece probably tinkled himself a little bit when he got the money quotes.
Simply put, in my opinion, this was a trap. A chance to possibly purge an embarrassing show about people who believe in God,guns and country.
The "gay" rights groups were notified who then fell in line to condemn Phil's opinion and then pressure A&E to do something about it. So they suspended him from the show.
Then the crap storm happened.
A facebook page set up almost 24 hours ago to support Phil Robertson currently has 947 K likes and growing, it should go over a million sometime this evening.
As much as everyone wants to make this about 1st amendment free speech rights A&E is a private company and has the freedom to determine what is and is not acceptable. But seeing as how the Robertson family is wealthy anyway they don't really need A&E, however Duck Dynasty is A&E highest rated show....ever.

What this is about is the free market, if the rest of the DD clan stands behind Phil and decides to walk away the question becomes can A&E give up the ratings and money that DD brings to the network.

You have to wonder if the suits at A&E are so stupid as to pander to what is really a small minority demographically that, until GQ wrote their hit piece, couldn't have cared less about Duck Dynasty.
