Like a Dog With a Bone

I remember seeing this in the wake of the velvet mafias attempt to lie, manipulate and extort A&E over the comments made by Phil Robertson in the GQ hit piece about Duck Dynasty.

After trying to distort what the guy actually said, even though the article was there for all the world to see, they pretty much got spanked in the arena of public opinion after A&E backed down.
For whatever reason.

Of course the militant gay agitators couldn't let it go and pick another battle, they immediately started to scour the web looking for some kind of smoking gun to use against Phil Robertson.
This is the best they could find.

DUCK HUNT: CNN FABRICATES NEW PHIL ROBERTSON CONTROVERSY
Even though CNN's phony controversy hasn't even been able to pick up traction at MSNBC, that hasn't stopped the left-wing cable news network from attempting to manufacture more trouble for Phil Robertson and "Duck Dynasty." But why would we expect anything less from the same network that fabricated evidence to frame a working-class Hispanic man?
The CNN report below, covering Robertson's humorous relaying of marriage advice, is taken ultra-seriously by the CNN correspondent, and asks, "What is the tipping point to getting kicked off the air?"
Does CNN not hear the crowd laughing? It is obvious that Robertson is going for laughs. That doesn't mean he isn't trying to make a point (his wife was 16 when they married) but there is no question he is performing and exaggerating to entertain a crowd that is entertained.~snip~
A little tongue in cheek marital advice that nobody is taking seriously.
Well except for the the same group that tells everybody what morality and Christianity really is, you know those ultra tolerant  gays rights activists.
How have we gotten to the point that the least moral and Christian among us are defining what it is to be either?
What's really funny is that despite they're proclamations of evil wrong doing, again, the video is available and people can make their own determination about it.
Hair is being pulled and teeth are being gnashed and no one cares.

A&E Damages it's brand

So A&E has finally given in to their audience and has re-instated Phil Robertson to Duck Dynasty.

A&E Welcomes Phil Robertson Back to 'Duck Dynasty'

Personally I can't think of any company who has done more to damage their brand since the debut of "New Coke".
What A&E has done is shine a bright spotlight on something that most people knew in the back of their minds but tried to ignore until now.
That the media...all media...seems to care more about pandering to vocal militant minorities who seem to have the liberal/commie news companies on speed dial than they care about the millions upon millions of people who support them by watching their shows and supporting their sponsors.

This is the same media that was mystified by the popularity of "The Bible".

Of course the professional grievance mongers will be demanding their pound of flesh, from the article linked above.
We will also use this moment to launch a national public service campaign (PSA) promoting unity, tolerance and acceptance among all people, a message that supports our core values as a company and the values found in Duck Dynasty. These PSAs will air across our entire portfolio.
Which of course means, in another example of ignoring the viewers who pay the bills, they'll shove gay approved PSA's on the people watching with their families. I'm sure there are other dumb ideas in the queue. Maybe they'll kill it off altogether when GLAAD demands that they introduce a gay character into the show like they do for all the others.
There's no limit to the amount of stupid media types will sink to when it comes to placating the velvet mafia.

Does One Reality Show Matter?

As the Duck Dynasty, A&E, Glaad drama continues to unfold I've been seeing a lot of people asking, what with all the other things going on, why does this matter?

I've come to the conclusion that the outrage over the Phil Robertson suspension goes way deeper than a TV reality show. What it's really about is pent up anger of Americans who are tired of being ignored.
For several years the government has excelled at ignoring the objections of the people.

For instance take Obamacare, please, since the law was enacted polls have consistently shown a majority of Americans wanted it repealed. Since the dysfunctional website has gone live the numbers against Obamacare has really spiked upward and still the democrats and Obama have continued to support it even as it begins to collapse under it's own weight. Obama and the dems have begun frantically to change the law as it nears it's dead line sending the health insurance industry into chaos. The damage to the health care system will be catastrophic and it all could have been avoided if the ACA was repealed and replaced with common sense legislation.
But it wasn't and now we'll all suffer the consequences because we were ignored

Government continues to spend out of control and a vast majority of Americans believe big government is our greatest threat. Yet Obama and the dems continue to rack up huge deficits in spite of Americans telling them to reign it in.

In every state that "gay marriage" was placed on a ballot it failed despite the velvet mafia pulling poll numbers out of their ass claiming that a majority of Americans approved of "gay marriage". Again the will of the people was ignored as the homosexual activists bypassed the public and went straight to the state legislatures or the courts. Enabling government to again defy the will of the public.

We've gotten to the point that once government gets involved in a situation then we know that there is a certain futility to any efforts be it protests or petitions to sway the outcome.
Which is why the Chick-fil-a protest and hopefully the Duck Dynasty one will prevail. Because these protests depend on free market pressures as opposed to going up against an intransigent government entity.

Government has become a criminal cabal that answers to no one but private businesses have to answer to their customers and that is something that we can control.
If we can take back a little bit in the culture war then special interest lobbyists may lose some of their grip on our politicians and they just may start listening.
