Death, Taxes and Liberal Outrage

Some of the things that are sure as the sun rising and setting is death, taxes and liberal histrionics at the drop of a hat.

The inevitable result of last weeks showdown over Obamacare has culminated in the predictable shutdown of government. All this over the launch of something that seems to be performing about the same as any other government conceived and implemented program.

Surprise! Obamacare health insurance exchange websites don’t work; HealthCare.gov a total mess

Like no one could see that coming.

You'd think with all the teeth gnashing and hand wringing that Obama, congress and the senate would be looking at draconian cuts in their pay and benefits, Aw who am I kidding, like Obamacare, they've made themselves pretty much exempt from the effects of a government shutdown.
They will suffer though, having to push their own elevator buttons and all.

You can find a list of things that will effect the taxpayer here however.

10 Effects of a Federal Government Shutdown

Which is kind of interesting because the ones who'll feel any real effects from a government shutdown will be the citizens who vote.
We seem to be the only ones who have skin in the game, politicians not so much, so where is their incentive to negotiate?
We've arrived at this point over a healthcare law nobody wants and is a dismal failure the first day out.
Who should really be outraged?

The "Warrior President"

So this was going to be the guy who soothes our enemies and brings about a new respect for the United States and peace throughout the world huh?

Relief in Damascus, as Syrians mock Obama the 'coward'
AFP - "He who talks a lot doesn't act," said Souad, a Damascus resident, mocking US President Barack Obama as a "coward" for delaying a decision to attack the Syrian regime.
"Obama is a coward. He didn't strike because he knows that our President Bashar (al-Assad) is all-powerful," said the employee of nationality electricity firm Ferdaws, in the northeast of the capital.
In the wealthy neighbourhood people went about their business without seeming too worried about the thuds from intermittent shelling of rebel positions outside the city centre.
A similarly calm atmosphere prevailed at one of the area's traditional, men-only cafes, where some customers appeared more interested in winning at backgammon than by Obama's speech.
On Saturday the US president said he will ask US lawmakers to approve a strike on Syria when Congress returns from summer recess on September 9, effectively lifting the threat of an imminent attack.~snip~
Well I'd say the respect thing has pretty well gone down the tubes as Obama flip/flops on whether he has the power to strike militarily with or without the approval of congress. When they come back in session, which should be around Sept.9.
I'll be surprised if he remembers what he was going to ask them to vote on by then.

But the real question is what if congress says no?
He can't get a coalition of countries together with or without UN approval nor does the American public seem to support military intervention in Syria no matter how small it is to prevent world wide mockery.
He could of course order it anyway but as a commenter posted in a previous post the democrats would be against it because they're looking at the mid-term elections next year.
Also I'm sure it would certainly displease his base, even though the media's keeping silent about the anti-war left, if they have any objections to their messiahs intentions.

Either way Obama has himself in a pickle, he tried to roar like a lion but the sound that came out was a squeak.

Obama's Edicts for the Little People

This is something that has always irritated the hell out of me.
The ways the lofty politicians find to exempt themselves from the laws they pass that apply to the rest of us.

Obama Grants Congress Obamacare Reprieve
The Obama administration has granted members of Congress and their staffers an exemption from a provision of Obamacare that could have cost them thousands of dollars a year in added health insurance costs, according to Politico.
Congress currently allots itself generous health coverage through the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program. Nearly 75 percent of premiums are taken care of. But under Obamacare, our representatives and their worker bees will be thrown onto the health care exchanges like millions of Americans – without the FEHB subsidy. Fair is fair, right?
Well, just two days after Obama assured Democratic lawmakers he was on the case – though make no mistake, many Republicans want action too – the administration has ruled that while Congress must hit the exchanges, the subsidy for their insurance will continue.
It’s good to be the king. And it’s good to be the nobility too.
Most politicians have made themselves rich while in office way beyond what a lot of us have been able to accumulate.
So why do a bunch of millionaires continue to be exempted from the same costs that any other person making over the threshold for subsidies gets?

Obamacare will be an albatross around the neck of every citizen in this country but as long as our "rulers" avoid being drug down with the rest of us they will never be able to share our pain or pass legislation to correct this boondoggle.

I can't believe that out of 350 million people in this country the current crop of thieves is the best we can do.

The Cold War Continues

Almost all the time I was growing up communism was the greatest threat we as country faced. I even got a certificate that designated me as a cold warrior a couple of years ago for my service in the 70's.
But the fact is we didn't win it, it just moved to this country and the communists have infiltrated the media, congress, unions and academia..........and we are losing.

Get a load of Melissa Harris-Perry's latest justification for her recent "collectivist" comments on our children.

Visit NBCNews.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy
12 whole minutes of typical comrade propaganda taken right out of the old re-education films and seminars of just about any cold war era country. All hail the collective.

From the video:
This is about whether we as a society, expressing our collective will
through our public institutions, including our government, have a right
to impinge on individual freedoms in order to advance a common good. And
that is exactly the fight that we have been having for a couple hundred
 years.
Yup we have been having this fight, not quite as long as she claims but since the end of WWII, in order to keep it out of this country.
She also wonders why it caused so much outrage on the "right wing", well the reason is pretty simple.

We're not OK with our children being owned by the collective because we've seen it before.
MSNBC has become Pravda, the propaganda arm of the democrat party.

Pelosi uses Congress and Dignity....

....in the same sentence. That's hilarious as hell, like multiple botox injections elevate her to some sort of wise political sage.

She and her fellow democrat travelers have no problem confiscating  the hard earned wages of us unwashed masses but you even hint at cutting the pay of congress and she gets all snippy.

Pelosi: Congressional pay cut undermines dignity of the job
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said Thursday that she opposes a cut in congressional pay because it would diminish the dignity of lawmakers' jobs.
"I don't think we should do it; I think we should respect the work we do," Pelosi told reporters in the Capitol. "I think it's necessary for us to have the dignity of the job that we have rewarded."
The comments were made in the context of the looming sequester, which would force across-the-board cuts affecting most federal offices, including Congress. With lawmakers nowhere near a deal to avert those cuts, federal agencies are bracing for ways to absorb them with minimum damage to programs and personnel.

I wonder if ex speaker Blinky engages her brain before she opens her mouth? Hey Nance!!! What about the dignity of the hard working individual and business owners who's pay you have no problem cutting to pay for your over indulgence in funding useless government programs?
I could go for the dignity of being able to keep some of the money I work for.

Congressional Priorities

Having solved all the major problems in this country of unemployment, the fiscal cliff, over regulation of business and securing a budget, congress turns it's attention to those pesky little details.
......oh wait.

Congress Overwhelmingly Votes to Ban the Word ‘Lunatic

Who says Washington can’t get anything done?
Our duly elected representatives have a reputation for being forever locked in disagreement, but apparently they can reach a conclusion when facing issues of linguistic politics. On Wednesday, the House of Representatives voted 398-1 in support of a bill banning the use of the word “lunatic” in all federal legislation, the BBC reported.
The House vote comes after the Senate approved the motion in May. The bill, which will now be passed on to President Obama for his signature, is intended to erase outdated or derogatory terms from the U.S. legal code.
We now have a federal government who prioritizes peoples feelings over the peoples business as their main legislative priority.
They keep it up and there won't be many words left to describe these incompetent, logic impaired half wits we keep electing to office. How has it come to this?
No wonder we're heading to the crapper at warp speed.

Stereotypes of the South Alive and Well

Just a little Boss Hog here, Arkansas Democrat Gene Jeffress plays it for all it's worth trying to sell opposition to Obamacare as racist.
I've lived in Arkansas for about 20 years and found it to be no more or no less racist than anywhere else but it seems that the race card is about the only one that's being played.

Jeffress is pretty typical of the low rent democrat politicians that exist here, making whatever plea they can to get into office and then neglecting their consituents until it's time for the next election. Of course their weapon of choice is to always pander to the rural poor in order to make a case about how "they are just like them" before they go to Washington and collect their perks and insider deals that can make them rich men.
Winning Congress would be like winning the lottery to the likes of Jeffress.
A dispicable little man who is not above using anyone to get out of Arkansas.......kind of like Huckabee, Bill and Hillary.
