What does Ebola and the Zombie Apocalypse have in common?

The comparison may be a bit of a stretch by stay with me for a minute.
Anyone familiar with the zombie apocalypse genre knows that survivors are pretty much on their own as zombies over run the world.
In every book,movie and television show out there the governments fail to anticipate, plan for or develop strategies to protect anyone from the coming zombie plague.
Including themselves.
What governments essentially become is what they are right now, incompetent.

So the current bumbling around by the federal government and it's agencies to contain the Ebola virus in the United States shouldn't be any surprise. Especially considering who's in charge.
Every fiction writer in the world got it right and the majority of people who become fans of apocalyptic fiction have no problem believing it.
Because they know, like everyone else, that a huge megalithic, bureaucracy is too big and ponderous to move quickly enough to avoid disaster. Then you add partisan politics to it and the gridlock virtually assures zombie domination.

If no one really expects government to protect them from a zombie apocalypse then why would we expect them to protect us from  Ebola or  Enterovirus D68?
The situation is probably iffy either way but a smaller government with less red tape and a real leader in charge may be able to move quickly enough to prevent a disaster.
But a smaller government with less reach into our lives  appears to be fictional also.

For Democrats it's Always About Taking More Money

I don't know why anyone would be surprised that Billy "BJ" Clinton thinks the only way out of Americas fiscal mess is by raising taxes on everyone.

Bill Clinton said Tuesday that President Barack Obama’s goal of hiking taxes on the rich alone is not enough to solve the country’s fiscal woes and suggested that middle class Americans must also eventually contribute more.
Clinton, who discussed a number of economic and political issues at the Peter G. Peterson Foundation’s third annual Fiscal Summit in Washington, D.C., prefaced his comments with the warning that he was giving his personal view and was “not speaking for the White House.”

“This is just me now, I’m not speaking for the White House — I think you could tax me at a 100 percent and you wouldn’t balance the budget,” said Clinton, who has earned tens of millions of dollars since leaving office. “We are all going to have to contribute to this, and if middle class people’s wages were going up again, and we had some growth to the economy, I don’t think they would object to going back to tax rates [from] when I was president” - before the Bush tax cuts.

It's always about the government wanting more money, never about the the way they piss it away on frivolous stuff.
Also, how come when they talk about budget cuts it's always the seniors, the military, emergency services, education and other essential services that are threatened?
They never talk about defunding stuff like the CPB or National endowment for the arts or even the vast bloated, bureaucracy of soulless civil servants who lord their petty little positions over the people who are forced by the rule of law to pay for their over sized salaries.
Hey Bill!
The problem isn't that the government ain't got enough money, it's that they're to irresponsible to be in control of it.

The Beginninig

Politics in this country has become all about the distractions, the current administration is looking for anything to distract the public from high gas prices, crushing EPA regulations to businesses, stealth taxes, high unemployment and the massive deficits that drive it.

Lost in all the blather is the everyday man, woman and their families trying to survive day to day. Losing their jobs and trying to find a way to live in an ever tightening job market.

Maybe no one will read this or a maybe few will but someones got to write about who is really missing out on the American dream while the politicians squabble about things that the government has no business sticking their noses in.

I'm a victim of the "little things", suffering a job loss at an age that makes it very difficult to find someone who'll offer me a another job. To old to appeal to employers and slightly to young for Social Security but almost there.
Either way, with the current situation, my prospects look bleak, along with millions of others.

This is going to be my vent, my documenting of the faceless, uncaring bureaucracy as I maneuver through it and my trials at finding suitable employment in the worse economic climate I've ever seen in over 50 years.
